I nurtured little seedlings inside all spring, protecting them from frost, only to have birds rip them right out of the soil the day after I transplanted them into garden beds. I watered faithfully, mulched, added nutrients to the soil, and spent far too much time and money, but most of my seeds never even sprouted. This garden might not be so discouraging
